The History
On August 26, 1863, Union troops marched on a small town in Indian Territory known as Perryville. As it was the new location of the Choctaw Nation, Choctaw troops valiantly fought defending their land from northern aggression, but to no avail. The town was looted and burned. Many of the townspeople fled, never to return. Others weren't so lucky.
On August 26, 2001, this battle was reenacted. Town structures were erected to represent the locations of the original buildings as they stood 138 years previously. The artillery was replaced and the skirmish was re-fought. However, this time it was caught on video tape.
This battle was taped by NovTek Video Productions and was made available to reenactors as a documentary about the period, location, soldiers, battle, and all the other factors surrounding the events that unfolded that fateful day. NovTek is a professional video production company who shoots many events besides reenactment videos.
The time has now come to make this video available to others outside the tight nit group and allow them the story of how it all unfolded.
This video has reinactment and documentary of the period; the battle; and the treosh in the medical tent afterwords showing the horror in the wake of war.
